Diabetes And Exercise.

There is a direct correlation between the symptoms of diabetes and exercise in order to reduce the severity and occurrence of those symptoms.  Exercise is something that not many people do anymore, although it is an essential part of staying healthy and feeling energetic.

Getting regular exercise ensures that your body burns fat and metabolizes glucose.  Often diabetes and exercise are overlooked as far as how they relate to each other.  Many type 2 diabetics are sedentary and overweight, and diabetes and exercise do not connect for them in their minds.

However, getting active for just 30 minutes per day for three days per week can make a very big difference in how a person with type 2 diabetes feels.  Regular exercise can assist in lowering blood glucose levels, and as a direct result, a type 2 diabetic who is reliant upon medication may be able to reduce the amount of medications that they need to take.

When you think about the effects of diabetes and exercise, here are some things you may not have thought about:

  1.  By getting regular exercise and reducing those blood glucose levels, you can reduce the amount and frequency of your symptoms.
  2. Since high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol levels can be a direct symptom of diabetes and exercise can assist in reducing both, it just makes sense to make time for regular exercise.
  3. Exercise strengthens your heart and your bones, and keeps your joints flexible.
  4. Exercise gives you more energy.

If you do not feel dedicated enough to get regular exercise, enlisting a friend who also needs to exercise can help.  This way, you can encourage each other to go out and exercise, and you can spend time together at the same time.

There are many treatments for diabetes and exercise is one of the best ones you can utilize.  Unless you join a gym, exercise is free, and it is not difficult to fit in 30 minutes of walking daily.

If you need to, you can leave for work earlier in the morning, park 15 minutes away from your workplace and walk to work.

This way you will get your full 30 minutes in of exercise each and every day.  As you get faster at walking, you may need to park further away!
